The Student to Mastery Collection
Where devotion to the practice becomes the beginning of mastery.
The Student to Mastery Collection is a collection of paintings created during my journey through the Milan Art Institute's online mastery program. Each painting represents something I was learning along the way, from seeing and translating what I see through paint to experimenting with new mediums, techniques and ways of expressing myself. Together, they document the beautiful, sometimes unexpected path from student to artist, shaped by practice, experimentation, discipline and discovery.
Along the way, I also began discovering more of what I love to paint, what feels natural to me and how much of myself can find its way into a painting, even when the original subject or assignment wasn't my own.
These works were created as part of my studies and are not part of my original conceptual body of work. Because they were created within that learning process, they are offered at special student-collection pricing. It's an opportunity to bring home a beautiful original painting while celebrating the journey that made it possible.

A study in movement, expressive brushwork and the freedom that comes with trusting myself. The sweeping brushstrokes in the feathers were an exercise in capturing the energy of flight and motion without getting caught up in painting every detail.

Father Bear
Father Bear was a study in staying with the process and letting go of expectations. There’s a point in every painting where you have to be willing to move through the awkward stage, make another mark and keep going. For me he came to represent the healthy masculine energy of structure and devotion, creating the support that allows creativity to keep showing up and flourish.

There’s something about this little guy that feels like pure joy and simple pleasure. As I became more comfortable with oils, I was learning to trust each layer of the process and enjoy what was right in front of me instead of worrying so much about where it was going.

Created with an indirect painting technique, the bright underpainting shines through the layers of oil paint and makes the landscape feel like it’s glowing from within. It reminds me of the endless grace, acceptance and love of God’s creation, always radiating around us even when we forget to notice it.

Sweet Reward
Bees have long symbolized abundance, community, dedication and the sweet rewards of our efforts. I love the idea of this little bee as a positive omen, a reminder to stay devoted to what matters while still finding joy in the moment.

There’s something so joyful and abundant about a vase overflowing with flowers. I explored this same subject in pastel and acrylic before finishing this version with oils, discovering how much richness and creamy softness they could bring to the final painting.

The ocean calls to me frequently and when I’ve stayed away too long, I can feel the need to return. This painting captures that feeling of standing at the edge of the sea, wind in my hair and salt in the air, grounded, recharged and completely at home.

The crystal-clear water and cool atmosphere of the red rock caves invite me in, as if I could walk directly into the painting and take a refreshing dip. I love the contrast between the warmth of the surrounding rock and the cool, peaceful water waiting below.
