The Sovereign Return Collection

Where the soul dissolves, rises, remembers, and returns to its power.

The Sovereign Return is a twelve-painting journey through surrender, transformation, remembrance and the return to our own creative power. Moving through darkness and light, masculine and feminine, death and rebirth, the paintings together tell a story of what it means to lose ourselves, find ourselves and become more fully who we are.

Symbolism and archetypes began emerging naturally from the abstract underpaintings, appearing in shapes, figures and imagery before I consciously understood what each painting was becoming. At the same time, I was moving through many of these same themes in my own life. As wounds were healed, lessons were integrated and something shifted within me, those experiences seemed to find their way into the paintings carrying the resolution, wisdom and embodied understanding that came through them.

These paintings were also created during one of Rassouli's Online Art Playshops, where I created a new painting each week to share with the beautiful community of artists he has brought together. Each week began with inspiration from Rassouli himself, often through the life and work of another artist, along with reflections on love, humanity, coherence, heart-led living and Sufi wisdom. We then carried that inspiration into our own creative processes, making our paintings and sharing our artwork with each other along the way.

As I continued to follow what appeared, the collection began to reveal its own story:

surrender → restoration → remembering → integration → renewal → creation

The Sovereign Return is ultimately about coming home to ourselves. Not becoming someone new, but remembering what was already there, reclaiming the parts we've left behind and realizing that we can consciously participate in creating what comes next.

An awakening into the truth that you are the creator of everything you touch

Surrender

At the edge of the unknown, she reaches, and the universe answers in light.

A lone figure reaches from the edge of a rocky cliff into a vast, swirling darkness as a beam of light reaches back toward her. For me, Surrender is about the courage to meet the unknown without needing to know what comes next. Sometimes clarity doesn't come before we take the next step. Sometimes we have to surrender first and trust that the light will meet us there.

Restoration

She lies where the world exhales, between root and radiance, becoming new once more.

A figure rests within a lush forest as a pillar of light pours down around her, connecting the earth below with the sacred geometry above. Restoration represents the kind of healing that happens when we stop pushing and allow ourselves to be held, returning to stillness long enough for mind, body and spirit to come back into alignment. Sometimes transformation doesn't require more effort. Sometimes it begins with rest.

Radiance

For the woman who refuses to dim the brilliance she carries.

A feminine figure emerges through vibrant layers of color, her body alive with movement, warmth and energy. Radiance is a celebration of the life force that moves through us when we allow ourselves to be fully expressed, sensual, creative and alive. She reminds me that our radiance isn't something we have to earn or create. It's already there, waiting for us to stop dimming it.

The Bridge

She can see where she wants to go. Now she has to choose to cross.

A solitary figure stands before a bridge leading toward a glowing city held within vast blue-green mountains. The Bridge captures the space between where we are and where we know we want to be, that moment when the vision has become clear but the journey still requires us to move. We don't have to see every step ahead. We just have to be willing to take the next one.

Enchanted

She isn't becoming magical. She's remembering that she always was.

A woman walks beside a unicorn through a colorful, dreamlike world that feels somewhere between imagination and memory. Enchanted is about returning to the part of ourselves that still believes in magic, trusts what can't always be explained and remembers how naturally imagination once came to us. The wonder we knew as children doesn't disappear. Sometimes we just have to find our way back to it.

Death to Distortion

What is false burns away, making room for a stronger, more honest masculine to emerge.

A masculine face emerges through fire, his gaze unwavering as he faces what has been distorted without looking away. Death to Distortion represents the willingness to see distorted masculine patterns like control, suppression and strength built on dominance rather than integrity for what they are, allowing what is false to burn away. For me, it isn't about destroying the masculine, but freeing it, allowing a healthier masculine rooted in presence, honesty and true strength to emerge.

Integration

Every part of you, past and present, light and shadow, belongs.

A winged feminine figure holds a small pink bird at her heart, surrounded by symbols of intuition, ancestry, renewal and the darker feminine wisdom that lives beneath the surface. Integration reflects the wholeness that becomes possible when we stop deciding some parts of ourselves are worthy while others need to be hidden or left behind. Wholeness isn't found by becoming only the light. It comes from making room for all that we are.

Unfiltered

She stops shaping herself for the world and lets her unfiltered truth breathe.

Surrounded by a wild swirl of color, she looks out completely at ease with herself, joint at her lips and no interest in performing anyone else's idea of who she should be. Unfiltered represents the moment we begin welcoming back the parts of ourselves we've judged, hidden or edited to make ourselves more acceptable. Before those pieces can be integrated, they first have to be allowed to exist.

Redemption

A surrender to the depths that becomes an ascent into light.

A marlin bursts from a powerful curling wave as a glowing Flower of Life holds steady within the turbulence and sunlight breaks across the horizon. Redemption is about what can happen when we allow ourselves to move through the depths instead of fighting our way out of them. The experiences that once felt like they might pull us under can become part of what carries us back to ourselves, stronger, clearer and ready to rise again.

Celestial Genesis

Held by something vast, ancient and beautifully protective.

Inspired by the Egyptian sky goddess Nut, a celestial feminine figure arches across the landscape, her body becoming part of the star-filled heavens above. Celestial Genesis reflects Nut's ancient connection to the cycles of birth, death and rebirth, and the idea of a vast maternal presence holding us through each one. For me, it is a reminder that even when we can't see what is forming next, we can soften into the mystery and trust that we are held by something much larger than ourselves.

Harvest of the Reborn

The lush return of vitality, rising through you like spring’s first harvest.

The ancient face of Osiris emerges from a lush abundance of green and gold, surrounded by the fertile energy of new growth and life returning. Harvest of the Reborn celebrates renewal in all its forms, new energy, new focus, new creations, new experiences and the fresh possibilities that become available when a season of darkness has passed. Like the earth becoming fertile again, it reminds me that rebirth isn't simply about returning to life. It's about discovering what we're ready to grow next.

The Queen of Willed Creation

She stands in her magic, commanding creation with a heart that knows its own power.

Isis stands with her wings spread wide, crowned in golden light, holding the ankh of life as energy moves through her hands and into the world around her. The Queen of Willed Creation represents the feminine as an active force of creation, combining intuition and desire with the clarity and will to bring something new into form. She reminds me that in addition to dreaming and receiving there are moments when we are called to choose, direct our energy and participate fully in bringing our desires to life.
